Who says a child of nature can’t find love in the city? This shoot from photographer Lindsay Hackney captures the beauty of the modern bohemian: she’s ethereal, creative yet grounded, and her natural femininity adds vibrancy to all the structures she strolls through.
“For this shoot we were inspired by the contrast between hard and soft - the location and attire both feature strong lines and modern textures and shapes, but the styling for our bride was soft and regal,” Lindsay said. “We loved to show how a really feminine look can stand out against a more masculine backdrop.“
Lindsay’s shoot provides inspiration for the bride creating beauty on a limited budget or with limited time. Whether you can’t get away or don’t want to splurge, there are still plenty of ways to make your special day all your own. With the smallest touches - like a faded green tablecloth that accentuates a bright red cocktail, flowers that look plucked from a magical forest and whimsical chabby chic napkins - a romantic adventure can be created anywhere.
Lindsay’s shoot is also a reminder that a dress is not about what is expected, but about what makes the bride feel beautiful. This graceful number from Reformation adds breathtaking romance without breaking the bank.
“Her dress is in the $300 range and so regal and beautiful!” Lindsay said. “Brides looking for a relatively inexpensive gown should find a lot to love at Reformation.”
The artistic process of Lindsay’s shoot itself reflected the naturally adventurous vibe captured here.
“This was truly an in-the-moment collaboration,” Lindsay said. “Our florist was in the area visiting from Oregon, [and] we had never met before, but we decided we just had to create something while she was here.”
Lindsay and her florist then invited a few artists to join the project before finding their model bride.
“We…found a truly inspiring model in Genesis, and we all showed up and just made magic,” Lindsay said.
